THE SCOOP: DUE to the recent Hudson tragedy, singer Jennifer Hudson will not be performing with Brian McKnight on Nov. 28 at Star Plaza in Merrillville. Brian is still set to perform.
THE SCOOP: State Sen. Rickey Hendon has written a book on President-elect Barack Obama titled Black Enough, White Enough: The Obama Dilemma, coming out in January and published by the Third World Press.
OUR NEW PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA is already proving to be the right "economic" choice for the highest office in the land. Just ask the folks at this paper who have been besieged by friends, family and supposedly long-distance cousins clamoring to get a copy of the Sun-Times' incredible and historic Nov. 5 Obama front page picture that will be framed and hung as a piece of history and a keepsake in thousands of homes in our beloved city, state and across the country.
THE STARS CAME OUT on Monday to pay their respects to Jennifer Hudson, whose precious family including her mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson; brother, Jason Hudson, and nephew, Julian King, were senselessly murdered last month on the South Side.
JUST IN: JENNIFER HUDSON and Brian McKnight are scheduled to appear in concert at the Star Plaza Theater Nov. 28, presented by Soul 106.3 and Power 92 radio stations. Given what Jennifer is going through with the tragic loss of her beloved family members, I would imagine her schedule is questionable. I contacted the stations' spokesperson, Pat Edwards, who said: "Brian will still perform and out of respect to Ms. Hudson, we will certainly honor her decision as to whether or not she will perform, as we continue to pray for her and her family."I understand that Saturday or Sunday will be the public viewing, and Monday the private services.
THE NEWS of the murders of Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and 7-year-old nephew Julian King has stunned Chicagoans and the Englewood community where they lived.
In the November issue of Sister 2 Sister, Jennifer Hudson talks with free-lancer Souleo as she promotes her new film, "The Secret Life of Bees," and her long-awaited, self-titled debut album, offering some insights into her relationship with her family.
GOV. BLAGOJEVICH hasn't officially said he will run for a third term in 2010, but he has said that "I love my job . . . and there is no reason to think I don't want to keep doing this job." Well, my sources tell me that he is already planning a series of fund-raisers. And, if all goes well, one will be held in Chinatown on Dec. 3 and another Dec. 5 with the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
