The Heis-man watch
The heat will be intense. Both teams ooze talent and toughness. Nowhere will the need to excel be more important than at quarterback. And nowhere are Florida and Oklahoma more willing to place their trust than in Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford. They have won the last two Heisman Trophies, and they showed the skill and resilience to lead their teams back from early losses to tonight's BCS national championship game.

Wolverines pull rank on Illini
As if the day weren't frosty enough, Illinois brought its own sudden cold front to Crisler Arena on Sunday. After teasing Krush-and-parry for 34 minutes, the Illini lost 74-64 after allowing No. 23 Michigan to break a 62-62 tie with a 12-2 closing run. The rapid collapse snapped a seven-game winning streak and likely will prevent Illinois (13-2, 1-1) from zooming into the Top 25 with back-to-back road wins over nationally ranked conference opponents.

No. 23 Michigan beats Illinois 74-64
Michigan's basketball program has turned around so much it had a big game in early January. And, the 23rd-ranked Wolverines responded well. Manny Harris had 16 points and four teammates also scored in double figures in Michigan's 74-64 victory Sunday over Illinois to end the Fighting Illini's seven-game winning streak.

Wildcats hang tough -- for a half, anyway
As long as Northwestern executed its offense to near-perfection and played decent defense, it led No. 10 Michigan State on Saturday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats led by a point at halftime, and a crowd of 8,117 was thinking about an upset. Morgan leads Spartans over Northwestern
Raymar Morgan scored 22 points and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds to lead No. 10 Michigan State to a 77-66 victory over Northwestern and the Spartans' seventh straight win on Saturday. Kalin Lucas came on strong after a rough start, scoring all but three of his 18 points in the second half. Chris Allen scored 16 and provided the spark as the Spartans scored the first 12 points of the second half to turn a one-point deficit into an 11-point lead.

Cats aim to pass physical tonight
If Northwestern doesn't rebound better than it did Wednesday at Penn State, the Wildcats have no hope of winning tonight's Big Ten Conference home opener against Michigan State.
